The Philadelphia 76ers continue to pick up the pieces. After their win over the Charlotte Hornets, they are now 9-16, still putting them as the No. 12 seed in the East. However, they’re only a game behind the tenth-seeded Brooklyn Nets.
That shouldn’t stop them from trying to shore up their frontcourt. The Sixers could always use an upgrade and have the assets to get one for their second unit.
FanSided floated Atlanta Hawks big man Larry Nance Jr. as a possible option for the Sixers, citing his shooting and positional versatility. Those two qualities would make him extra appealing to Philadelphia.
Nance also has vital playoff experience, having made the 2018 NBA Finals back when he played for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
If that’s not enough, Sixers fans facetiously welcomed Nance to the team after Nance celebrated the Sixers signing his brother to a two-way contract. Still, it wouldn’t be too farfetched to suggest that their previous sarcasm would turn into genuine glee if Philadelphia got their hands on Nance.
Nance is reportedly not available
Though Nance would make sense on the Sixers, Marc Stein reported on The Stein Line that the Hawks have turned down every trade inquiry about him.
Per Stein on December 8, the Hawks “continue to rebuff all trade interest in versatile veteran forward Larry Nance Jr. … just as they did throughout the offseason after Nance arrived in Atlanta.”
The Hawks are also competing with the Sixers for a playoff spot. At 14-14, they are the No. 7 seed in the East. It would be counterproductive for them to trade Nance to a team that shares their goals.
Now, of course, that can change if the Hawks’ season goes on a downward spiral. However, it’s hard to see them do that after the promise they’ve shown this season.
