When the Philadelphia 76ers were rebuilding in the 2010s, every NBA draft pick was a game-changing move.
2014 second round pick Jerami Grant has proven himself, but not in a Sixers uniform. He played just two mediocre seasons in Philadelphia before spending time with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons and Portland Trail Blazers.
The Blazers aren’t really taking advantage of their second-most improved player because they’re in the midst of a rebuild. Here’s why Bleacher Report proposed a blockbuster tradesending Grant to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for a package featuring guard D’Angelo Russell and big man Jarred Vanderbilt.
“The Lakers have been surprisingly quiet this offseason,” B/R’s Zach Buckley wrote. “There’s still time to make a cap-boosting deal, though, and adding Grant should qualify. As a third option — or even a fourth if Austin Reaves makes a decisive effort — Grant is more than equipped for the job.”

Lakers host: Grant and Duo Reath
Blazers receive: Russell, Vanderbilt, Jalen Hood-Schifino, a 2029 first-round pick and a 2025 second-round pick (via LAC)
Average grant 21 points and 3.5 rebounds on 45.1 percent shooting, a commendable number, but those numbers would likely drop in Los Angeles. As Buckley noted, Grant could perfectly fill a void behind the superstar duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
