LeBron James is now the sole owner of another all-time NBA record.

On Thursday, the NBA announced that James was selected as a starter in the 2024 NBA All-Star Game, marking an unprecedented 20th selection for the 21-year-old veteran. The first and only time James missed an All-Star Game selection was during his rookie campaign in 2003-04.

20 years later, James is averaging 24.8 points, 7.4 rebounds and 7.2 rebounds during the first half of the season. And although his seven-year run as the overall vote-getter has come to an end, James will captain the West after receiving the most votes in the conference.

This is where James’ latest accolade puts him in the history book.

Most NBA All-Star selections of all time

James’ 20th All-Star selection breaks a tie with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who earned 19 All-Star selections during his 20-year NBA career.

In addition to 20 selections, James has been selected as an All-Star starter 20 times.

4. Tim Duncan fifteen

James is a three-time NBA All-Star Game MVP and has averaged 22.4 points in his first 19 All-Star Game appearances. In last year’s All-Star Game, James scored 13 points (on 6-of-11 shooting) and dished out four assists in 14 minutes of action.

After James, Kevin Durant (14) and Chris Paul (12) are among the active leaders in All-Star selections. James Harden, who missed out on a pick in 2023, is the only other active player in double figures with 10. Stephen Curry, who made his ninth All-Star appearance in 2023, will join the former group this year.
