The final hour of the 2024 NBA trade deadline is quickly approaching and teams are running out of time to execute deals.
This year, the lead-up to the trade deadline has been noticeably quieter than in previous years, but history has shown that things could escalate in an instant. As we learned in 2023, one request from a disgruntled star can turn the league upside down.

Timberwolves add guard depth, acquire Monte Morris from Pistons
Minnesota has added one of the league’s strongest guards in Morris, according to The farces of Athletic Charania. Morris boasts impressive career averages of 10.4 points, 4.0 assists and 0.8 turnovers per game.
In exchange, Detroit will receive Shake Milton, Troy Brown Jr. and a second-round pick in 2030.
Morris has played just six games with the Pistons this season, but now joins a contending Timberwolves team that was looking for point guard depth behind veteran Mike Conley.
Celtics get Xavier Tillman from Grizzlies
The Celtics are set to add Tillman, a 6-7 big man who has spent each of his first four NBA seasons in Memphis, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. In exchange, Boston will send Lamar Stevens and two future second-round picks to Atlanta (2027) and Dallas (2030).
Tillman, 25, reinforces the Celtics’ front rotation. He provides a third option to log playing time or play alongside Al Horford and Kristaps Porzingis.
Pistons acquire Simone Fontecchio from Jazz
After being linked to a list of contenders, Fontecchio heads to the Pistons for Kevin Knox, the draft rights to Gabriele Procida and a 2024 second-round pick via the Wizards. according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Fontecchio is 28 years old but is in his second season in the NBA. He has earned a reputation for his shooting ability, as he has made 39.1 percent of his three-point attempts this season.
