How to set up recurring tasks with Notion

Setting due dates is an essential feature if you run your projects and tasks in Notion. But what if you want to create a recurring task?

Unfortunately, the platform does not have a built-in feature that allows you to tag a task as recurring. Fortunately, there is a workaround you may want to try and we’ll show you how to apply it.

How to set up recurring tasks in Notion on PC

Setting up tasks in Notion is probably easier to do if you’re using your computer. Its options are more accessible and you can quickly move elements on the page with the cursor.

When it comes to recurring tasks, you can keep things super simple by creating a list of Recurring Tasks and checking them off one by one as they are completed.

This is not an automated process as you would have to reset the list manually after the tasks are complete. The problem with setting up a recurring task in Notion is that you need to create a formula that works, and to do that you need to know how to write code.

That may not be possible for the average Notion user, or maybe you just don’t want to invest your time in figuring out and then writing the formula. The good news is that other users who have had the same problem in the past have created recurring task templates that you can use.

Use a recurring task template

You can search the internet for the recurring task template for Notion that fits your needs. There are many versions available. However, we will focus on a specific option and explain how to implement it. Is that how it works:

  1. Sign in to your Notion account using a web browser.

How to set up recurring tasks in Notion on an iPhone

Some Notion users prefer to work on their iPhones and execute their tasks on the go. Notion has an excellent mobile app for iPhone, which offers an excellent user experience, even with some limitations. The Notion mobile app has a designated “Templates” button, but you can’t use it to integrate a template created by a third party. Instead, you can follow these steps:
