When you first create your RingCentral account, your voicemail greeting is set by default. If you want to use your own recording for your voicemail greeting, you can easily change it in the RingCentral mobile app or website. Instead of having a generic prerecorded message, you can record whatever you want and make your voicemail greeting more personal, witty, or fun.

In this article, we’ll show you how to change your voicemail greeting in RingCentral on your PC, iPhone, and Android device. We’ll also review the process of changing your voicemail PIN in the RingCentral app.
How to Change Voicemail Greeting in RingCentral from PC
RingCentral is a communication app that you can use to call someone, message team members, and schedule video conferences. It is a great communication tool for both professional and personal use. It comes with many messaging and phone features, one of which is voicemail.
When you create your RingCentral account, your voicemail greeting will be set by default. The voicemail greeting is a prerecorded message that informs the caller that you are not available to answer the phone at that time. The caller can leave a message or return the call if they wish. This communication tool is very useful when you are too busy to talk or you don’t hear the phone ringing. Not to mention how useful it can be when you don’t recognize caller ID.
If you don’t like the default voicemail greeting or think it’s too generic, you can always change it and use your own recording. Changing your voicemail greeting is much easier in the phone app, where you can simply record a new message. If you want to set up a different voicemail greeting in RingCentral on your PC, there are three ways to do it.
- Use your computer’s microphone to record a new voicemail greeting.

- Upload an MP3 or WAV file to your RingCentral account.

- Have RingCentral call you so you can record a new voicemail greeting on your phone.

No matter which option you choose, you’ll be able to set up a new voicemail greeting in RingCentral in minutes. Follow the steps below to find out how it’s done.
- Visit the Center Ring website in your browser and log in to your RingCentral account.

- Click the “Settings” icon in the lower left corner of the screen.

- Select “Phone” from more options and drag to tab order.

- Now select “Phone” in the left sidebar.

- Click “Edit” next to “Voicemail.”

- Under “Voicemail Greeting Type,” select “Custom.”

- Choose the “Record” button.

- Select “Phone,” “Microphone,” or “Import.”

- Record or import the new voicemail greeting.

- Click the “Save” button in the lower right corner.

If you choose the Phone option, you will need to enter your phone number so RingCentral can call you. You can also simply select the Call Now button and finish quickly and efficiently. Please note that this is a generated call, so simply follow the instructions and press the necessary buttons. The entire process should take no more than a couple of minutes.
If you want to record your new voicemail greeting through a microphone, press the red record button, record your new voicemail greeting, and click the Done button. Please note that RingCentral will ask for permission to use your microphone beforehand. This is a great option if you don’t have your phone with you right now.
If you want to import your prerecorded voicemail message, click the Browse button and choose the file from where you stored it on your computer. When you’re done, click the Done button in the same window. This method is the most time-consuming, as you will need to record the message with your phone and then transfer it to your computer.
While you’re there, you can also change your voicemail PIN. By default, all RingCentral users have the same PIN. Simply type your new PIN and confirm it. However, there are some criteria for the PIN. For example, you can only use digits and cannot repeat two or three digits (for example, 222). You also can’t use sequential numbers, like 1234.
Once you save your changes, the next time someone calls you through the RingCentral app and you don’t answer, you’ll hear your new voicemail greeting. Please note that your ringtone settings are immediately applied to all your devices. So if you change your voicemail greeting on your PC, you won’t need to do it again in your mobile app.
