BeReal has revolutionized emojis to give them a more authentic and personal feel. Once you post on BeReal, you can react to other people’s posts using a RealMoji. A RealMoji is similar to an emoji, but instead, you take a selfie imitating an emoji’s expression. But you might react to a post with a RealMoji that doesn’t look right. How do you change it?

How to change BeReal emojis

BeReal’s goal of making online interactions more authentic spans all of its features, including emojis. Instead of using a handful of emojis, BeReal has just five, which you can use to react to posts as they are. Alternatively, you can give emojis a human touch by taking their expression in real life using the front camera.

Sometimes real photographs, especially those that imitate expressions, can have errors in the first shot. You may react to a post and realize that RealMoji doesn’t turn out the way you expected. Other times, you may react in a way that doesn’t match how you feel about a post. These are the methods to change your emoji or RealMoji reactions in BeReal.

Change your BeReal emoji in a post

If you reacted with a mismatched emoji on someone’s post, you can easily change it without the post owner receiving a notification. Here’s how you do it on your Android or iPhone:

1. Open your BeReal app and tap “Global” on your account home page. This takes you to other users’ posts.
   
2. Navigate to the post with the RealMoji you want to edit and tap it to open it.
   
3. Select the emoji you want to replace the current one with. You will have changed your emoji reaction on the post.
   

If you are running an Android device, you can also use this method, which is slightly different from the previous one:

1. Launch your BeReal app and open the post with the emoji you want to adjust.
   
2. Tap your current emoji reaction in the bottom left corner.
   
3. Choose the “Emoji icon” on the right and select your new emoji reaction.
   

Change BeReal Emoji in a Post Using Lightning Bolt

In addition to the five emoji reactions, BeReal also includes a lightning bolt feature. It allows you to react to a post using an instant RealMoji or a live reaction. It’s useful if you can’t find an emoji that fits your reaction to a BeReal post.

You can find the lightning bolt in your emoji menu to the right. When you touch it, it immediately launches the front camera.

An instant RealMoji is a one-time reaction: you can’t save it to your emoji menu. So, to replace your current reaction emoji in a post with an instant RealMoji, you first need to remove or remove the RealMoji.

This is how you delete your emoji reaction on a post on your Android or iPhone:

1. Open your BeReal app and tap “Global” under your profile.
   
2. Go to the post with the reaction emoji you want to replace.
   
3. Tap the “Emoji icon” at the bottom right to display emojis.

If you are using an Android phone, you can use this alternative method:

2. Locate your active emoji to the right and “double tap” it. This opens a “three vertical dots” menu above your emoji.
   
3. Tap the “Three Dots” menu and select “Remove RealMoji.”
   

For an iPhone, you can also delete your reaction emoji as follows:

1. Open the BeReal post with the reaction you want to edit and tap the “Emoji icon.”
2. Tap your active emoji and select your username next to it.
3. Choose “Delete my RealMoji”, which will automatically delete your reaction.

After you delete your reaction emoji on the post, follow these steps to add a lightning bolt emoji:

1. Tap the “Emoji icon” at the bottom to show your emojis and RealMojis.

BeReal allows you to have a RealMoji for each of your five emoji reactions. If you have a saved RealMoji that you’re happy with, you can delete it and replace it with a new one. This is how you do it:

1. Launch your BeReal app on your Android or iPhone.
   
2. Tap “Global” at the top and open any post.
   
3. Select the “Emoji icon” in the bottom right corner to display emojis and their RealMojis.
   
4. Press your finger on the RealMoji you want to change for about three seconds until the “delete icon” (a red X) appears. Once it appears, tap on it to remove RealMoji.
   
5. Select the emoji whose RealMoji you removed from the emoji menu. A camera preview screen appears so you can take a reaction photo.
   
6. Tap the “Capture button” (white and circular) to take your emoji expression photo.

Can other people see my emoji reaction?

Like other social platforms, other people can see your emoji reaction to a BeReal post. If you navigate to the bottom left corner, you can see your reaction along with other users.

Why can’t I see any posts to react to?

If you go to the discovery option and don’t find any posts, you haven’t published a BeReal. BeReal only allows users who have posted a photo to view and react to other users’ posts. When you add a BeReal post, even outside of posting hours, you’ll get access to other people’s posts and add your reactions.

What if I can’t find an appropriate BeReal emoji for a post?

BeReal offers only five emoji options. However, if you can’t find an emoji that matches your desired reaction to a post, you can use lightning to create a live RealMoji. You can find the lightning bolt towards the right of the emoji menu. When you tap and hold it, the front camera lets you capture your reaction.

Can I save my RealMojis?
