When it comes to video conferencing, Zoom is one of the best options on the market. It doesn’t matter if you are using it at home or in the office; You’ll connect your team members in no time.

But you don’t need to use the video function if you don’t need to. You can simply set a profile picture and use the audio-only option.
Adding a profile photo is more personal than showing just your name during a meeting. In this article, we’ll show you how to change your profile photo and some other useful customization options.
Add a Zoom profile picture – desktop
One of the best things about Zoom is that you can customize your profile in many ways. To change your settings, you will need to access your profile through the Zoom web portal. So, if you have the perfect profile photo ready, here’s what you need to do:
- Log in to your Zoom account in a web browser.
Note– If you are using the desktop app, you will be directed to the website.

- Click Profile in the left menu.

- Hover over the stock profile image until a pencil icon appears. Then click on it.

- Click on Choose the file.

- Select the image from your computer. Then crop the image and click Save.

You can refresh your page and check your profile photo. If you are not satisfied with its appearance, simply repeat the process. Or, if you change your mind about having a Zoom profile photo, simply select Delete.
Also, remember that your image must not exceed 2 MB in size and must be in one of the following formats: PNG, JPG or GIF.
On the same Profile page, you can also edit other personal information. Next to your profile photo is your display name. You can select edit in the top right corner of the screen and change it. You can also edit your email address and change your Zoom user type.

How to add a profile picture during the call
The next time you’re on a Zoom video call and decide to turn off the camera, other participants will see your profile photo. But you can also add a profile picture during your Zoom video call.
- Just right click on Further preview the video and select Edit profile.

- When you stop the video, you can see your image. The option to edit your profile photo will not always appear. Sometimes you will click Further just to find the Rename option.

How to add a profile picture in the mobile app
If you primarily use Zoom on your mobile device, follow these steps to add a profile picture:
- Start the Zoom application.

- Select Settings.

- Tap your name to access your Profile.

- Tap on Profile picture.

- Select any Camera either Select from photo album and select the profile picture you want.

How to disable profile pictures
You’ll also notice that no one’s profile photos appear in this meeting. This happens when the meeting moderator has the option disabled. You can activate this option from the Zoom website if you are the moderator. Simply follow these steps:
- Go to the Zoom website and sign in to your account. Click on ‘Settings” on the left side and make sure you are in the Meeting tab at the top.

- Scroll down to Hide profile pictures of meeting participants. Make sure it is activated. If this doesn’t work, Zoom warns that the feature is only available in versions 5.0.0 or later.

Add an image to your Google account for Zoom
There are four ways to log in to your Zoom account. You can use your work email, Facebook, single sign-on, or Google account. In the latter case, Zoom will automatically upload your Google or Gmail profile picture as your Zoom profile picture.
If your Google profile doesn’t have an image, you can add it there first and then sign in to Zoom. That way you’ll have the same image in both locations on a single charge. This is how you change your Google account picture:
- Sign in to your Gmail account.

- Select Settings in the upper right corner of the screen.

- From the menu, select My photo and then Choose an image.

- Upload a profile photo of your choice.

You can also change your Google profile photo from your mobile device. But keep in mind that regardless of where you make these changes, you’ll have to wait a while for them to take effect. But once they do, the same image will appear across all Google products, wherever you sign in with your account.

Frequent questions
Zoom is a program that has been available for a long time, but in 2022 it will be used more than ever. If you’re still new to the platform, here we have answers to some of the most frequently asked questions:
My profile photo is not showing in the meeting. What is happening?
Zoom makes signing in super easy and you don’t even need an account to join someone’s meeting. Assuming you clicked the link to join someone’s meeting, you’re probably not logged in. If your profile photo is not displayed, you must go to the Zoom app or a web browser, sign in, and then join the meeting with the meeting ID (which should have been sent to you in the invitation).
Also, remember that Zoom meeting administrators have a lot of control over what you can do within the meeting. This means they may have disabled the option to show profile pictures within your meeting. If you’re sure you’re logged into the correct account, this is probably why you’re not seeing your profile photo. To confirm, create your own meeting and see if your profile photo appears.
Do I even need a profile photo?
While it is not absolutely necessary to have one, it can be a great asset with many benefits. For one thing, depending on the type of meeting you’re in, a profile photo can be a great substitute for turning off the camera. Your profile photo will be displayed when you speak, making it more personal and allowing others to see who they are speaking to during the meeting.
Can I delete my profile photo?
If you update your profile photo while you’re in a meeting, be careful; There’s no way to change it from within the meeting (so be sure to select an image that you’re comfortable with and that everyone will look at for a while).
To delete your profile photo, you will need to do so from a web browser. Follow these steps:
1. Click Profile in the left menu

2. Click Edit profile.

3. Click the Pencil icon on your profile photo.

4.Touch Delete and confirm to get rid of your image.

Choosing the right profile picture is a big problem
How many profile pictures do you have on apps and platforms? Probably many. When you’re setting up your Zoom profile photo, you may be wondering what type of message it sends.

Is it professional enough or is it too serious? Or maybe it’s better not to think about it too much. When you find the right image, simply follow the steps above and add it to your Zoom profile.
