MetaMask is an extremely popular software wallet with several impressive features. Setup is simple and you can use it without problems with practically any DeFi application.
It is also mainly used on Ethereum, but this does not mean that you can only link it to this blockchain. You can also connect it to the Binance Smart Chain network and this article will show you how. We’ll cover the basics of connecting your wallet and making simple transactions.
Add Binance Smart Chain
You may have explored Binance Smart Chain on other crypto wallets, but if you want to switch to MetaMask, you will need to download the platform and set up your account before accessing the blockchain network.
- Open your web browser and navigate to MetaMask website. Press the blue “Download” button.

- Select the message that allows you to install the wallet in your browser.

- After installation, the platform will ask you if you are new to the wallet. Answer the question and press “Create Wallet” to move if you are using MetaMask for the first time. Create your password and write down the backup phrase. Make sure your password is correct and click the “Confirm” button.

- If you just want to recover your passphrase, select “Import Wallet”. Complete the verification and your account will be set up.

- Open MetaMask, navigate to “Settings” and choose “Network.”

- To add the blockchain manually, click the “Add Network” button. Now you can decide between two networks: Mainnet and Testnet.

- If you want to use Mainnet, you will need the following parameters:
- Network Name: Smart Chain
- New URL: copy one of this page.
- Symbol: BNB
- String ID: 56
- Blocking URL: https://bscscan.com
- If you want to use Testnet, these are the necessary parameters:
- Network Name: Smart Chain – Testnet
- New URL: Copy one from this page.
- Symbol: BNB
- String ID: 97
- Blocking URL: https://testnet.bscscan.com
- Copy the desired information and paste it into the appropriate boxes.
- Press “Save” and the Binance Smart Chain network should now be added to your “Networks” tab. Additionally, the wallet should now include the BNB symbol in the “Assets” section.

Binance Smart Chain is now part of its MetaMask ecosystem, but it doesn’t want it to remain there untouched. Instead, start transferring funds as soon as you set it up. This is how the process works if you are using Mainnet.
- Navigate to the exchange and press “Withdraw Crypto”.

- Choose BNB as currency and copy the MetaMask wallet address. To do this, click on your account address and it should go to your clipboard.

- Go back to the previous screen and paste the wallet address. Binance should now automatically choose the network where you will transfer your BNB. For example, one of the most common options is BEP-20.

- Write the amount you want to transfer.

- Press the “Send” button. The platform will ask you if you want to continue with the transactions. This serves as a reminder that you will lose your assets unless you choose the right network.

- Wait for the transaction to complete and the BNB amount should be transferred to the wallet.

Transacting on Testnet is just as easy.
- Hover over the “Account 1” button after connecting to Testnet and click. This will copy the address to your PC’s clipboard.

- Go to this website and paste the address into the corresponding form.

- Click on the “Give BNB” message and choose how much BNB you want to receive. You may have to wait a few minutes, but the funds should appear in your wallet quickly.

How to Send BNB to Binance Smart Chain Addresses
Binance Smart Chain is like any other blockchain. In addition to withdrawing currency, you can also send it to other users. Here’s what you’ll need to do in your MetaMask account to transfer BNB.
- Navigate to your MetaMask account and enter your login credentials.
