Jenn Tran made history when she was announced asHigh schoolThe first Asian-American lead ever on March 25, but his casting also featured members of Bachelor Nation, including former Bachelor lead Nick Viall, by surprise.

Heading into the finale, Maria Georgas and season 28 runner-up Daisy Kent were the clear favorites and fan favorites.Bachelorette partyoptions. So when Tran was unexpectedly announced, Bachelor Nation couldn’t help but feel like the producers did her and her historic moment a disservice.

After chatting with Kent on a recent episode of his podcast, The Viall FilesViall shared his thoughts on High school The casting of season 21, including fears that Tran was not prepared for success and his belief that the producers should have done everything necessary to cast Daisy.

“I think there’s something about Daisy and her sincerity; I really think the show missed the mark,” Viall said, recounting the various reasons the finalist turned down the opportunity, including her health.

“So many contestants in The Bachelor either Bachelorette party They will say they turned down the opportunity. And that is sometimes a half-truth. In large part it is because they negotiate themselves out of the position. They asked for too much money. They asked for too many adaptations. And as I noted before, the program will not negotiate, almost to its detriment,” Viall explained. “I think in this case it was to their detriment. I am very happy for Jenn. I’m so happy for the representation Bachelor Nation is finally getting when it comes to Asian representation. I’m really bummed they did it this way, because clearly Jenn wasn’t her first choice. They never planned for Jenn to be the Bachelorette party and they haven’t set Jenn up for success. We don’t know who she is. We don’t know her story. And it’s a shame that Jenn takes on this role like this.”

Viall noted that the show still has time to shake things up and help viewers learn more about Tran before her season airs, saying, “I hope Jenn gets on the air. I hope they let us know her backstory, who she is, because clearly there’s more to her than just being the first Asian. Bachelorette party.”

That said, she also thinks “the show should have done everything it could to make Daisy the best.” Bachelorette party.”

The Bachelor The season 21 star explained that he believes the producers should have “paid [Daisy] an amount that would have been difficult to refuse” and “went to great lengths” to ensure his health was taken care of.

As for why Viall thinks the show needed Kent to return, he said, “I think very often their best Bachelorettes have this kind of sassy sarcasm. They are fierce and it is very entertaining. They haven’t had a real girl next door. Bachelorette party.”

Viall also noted that Kent currently has more followers on Instagram than The BachelorJoey Graziadei’s season 28 lead, so the popularity factor is certainly there. He emphasized his compelling story, noting, “although he is sweet, he is not a pushover.”

“She was able to go through this whole process and not succumb to the pressures and just say ‘I’m falling in love’ because that’s what you do. What she lacks is experience, he makes up for in emotional maturity, as I see it. And I think a lot of times we haven’t had that up front,” Viall said. After the Graziadei season, in which the first Bachelor The star admitted that it felt like “a resurrection of the franchise,” and ultimately thinks they “missed the opportunity to have back-to-back iconic seasons.”

Before the podcast episode ended, Viall took a moment to clarify that her support for Kent had nothing to do with Tran, repeating, “They just didn’t set her up for success.
