The rumored Jon Snow spin-off series game of Thrones Star Kit Harrington has been causing him to stop moving forward, says the actor.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Harington spoke candidly about how the show became stuck in development and why it was temporarily shelved.
“It would be fair to share this with you if you’re referring to Jon Snow, it’s not happening, and it’s not happening anytime soon anyway,” he said. “We exchanged some ideas and nothing really enlightened us. It just wasn’t like that. I think we don’t want to do something that isn’t worth it. So for now we’re just going to put it aside.”
He explained that they struggled to find a suitable story for the character that would make a new series worthwhile.
“I never would have said yes to the idea of developing something with Jon Snow if I didn’t think there was something interesting there, and that I could have done it,” he said. “But HBO cares a lot about the character and I care a lot about the character, and we don’t want to put out something that tarnishes the character. “That’s the worst thing we could do.”
From the sound of Harington’s comments, it sounds like a spinoff could still happen if they find a good enough story to bring the character back.
“Unless we find something in the future that actually lands, there’s no point in rushing. There is no point in continuing to develop for the sake of developing and doing something I don’t want to do,” he stated.
For now, game of Thrones the fans have Dragon Housewhich will return with a new season this June.

Peter Claffey was recently cast in the series as Ser Duncan, while Dexter Sol Ansell was cast as Egg. The series will be executive produced by GOT novelist George R.R. Martin, hot showrunner Ryan Condal, as well as Ira Parker and Vince Gerardis.
