Based on the crime novel series by Robert B. Parker, the Jesse Stone films follow a former Los Angeles homicide detective whose drinking problem forces him to scale back his career and accept a job as police chief at a small Massachusetts town. To Stone’s surprise, the picturesque town has a surprisingly intense crime scene with mob run-ins and triple homicides. Fortunately, Stone is up to the task and each film includes different cases from Stone’s career in Massachusetts with additional plots following his struggles with alcohol and his complicated relationship with his ex-wife Jenn.
Tom Selleck plays Jesse Stone in each of the nine films that were adapted from the CBS (and later Hallmark Channel) novels. If you’re interested in delving into the small town of Paradise, Massachusetts (loosely based on the real town of Marblehead, MA) and following the twists and turns of Jesse Stone’s police career, but don’t know where to start, we’ve got you lined up. and ready for you.
