Alex Pereira has limited MMA experience, but he has accomplished more than most who have entered the octagon over the years. A double champion in just seven UFC fights, “Poatan” has the skills and patience to back up any potential “GOAT” talk.
Pereira looks to heighten the conversation when he defends the UFC light heavyweight title against former champion Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 on April 13.
Hill has competed in nine fights inside the Octagon, starting with an appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2019. “Sweet Dreams” beat Glover Teixeira in 2023 to win the UFC light heavyweight title, but was forced to drop it vacant after suffering an injury. He has wins against Ovince Saint Preux, Johnny Walker, Thiago Santos and Teixeira, which makes him dangerous.
However, Pereira believes Hill won’t be much of a challenge compared to his last opponent, one of MMA’s most intimidating figures whom he beat for light heavyweight gold, Jiri Prochazka.

“I think Jiri is more accurate and precise with his punches, the way he flows, the way he fights,” Pereira said. CBS Sports’ Shakiel Mahjouri through MMA addict. “Jamahal Hill has a little bit more of an edge in his power, which also makes him dangerous, because no one wants to get hit and fall in a fight. But when you talk about skill level, Jiri Prochazka is superior.”
