Can you recover the 2D Bitmoji?
It’s a no from Snapchat. All updates to this application are permanent. This means that you won’t be able to do anything once your app updates and your 2D bitmoji becomes 3D.

Edit your 3D Bitmoji
Although you can’t go back to the beloved 2D bitmoji, you can edit the 3D one. Here’s how you can do it in just four steps:

- Tap your online avatar once more to enlarge it.
- You will see an option to edit (outfit, pose and background).
Change is possible. It’s time to gather your creative skills and fix what can be fixed. Try new poses, dress differently, change the background, add or remove some makeup, change hair, face shape, etc.
Unlink your Bitmoji 3D
If nothing works and your Snapchat avatar cannot be saved, you can try unlinking your bitmoji. Here are the steps:
- Open the Snapchat app on your phone.
- Click on your bitmoji in the top left corner of your screen.
- Go again to “Settings” in the upper left corner.
- Scroll to and click “Bitmoji.”
- Find and click “Unlink my Bitmoji.”
Following these steps does not mean that you will delete your 3D bitmoji. That’s impossible. This just means that it will revert to its generic 3D version.
How to create your own Bitmoji
Creating your own bitmoji is relatively simple. If you want to create your own virtual Snapchat, you can do so by following a couple of steps. This is for those installing Snapchat for the first time.
Once you click on the app, the process officially begins.
- Tap the “Profile” icon.
- Choose “Create my avatar.”
Snapchat will guide you through the rest of the process.
You will have to choose the hairstyle, skin color and body type of your bitmoji. You’ll also have to choose between little things like earrings, socks, and even freckles.
If you’ve already created your avatar on other social media platforms, this process is probably very familiar to you.
Once you’re done with your bitmoji and you like the “look” you’ve created, head back to the main page to check out how it looks. This is what your bitmoji will look like to other users you photograph.
