Jesse Rodriguez is coming into his own at age 24 and will look to prove he’s the real deal when he challenges Juan Francisco Estrada for the WBC super flyweight title on June 29. The fight and undercard are broadcast on DAZN.
Rodríguez won the WBC super flyweight title in 2022. Shortly afterward he opted to move up to the 112-pound pision, beating Cristian González for the WBO flyweight belt. “Bam” secured a spot on the pound-for-pound list when he defeated Sunny Edwards for the IBF gold.
Now, Rodríguez returns to the 115-pound pision to face a warrior like Estrada. The Top 25 Under 25 fighter did not want to make an easy transition to go back up in weight, but instead he chose to try to regain the title that he never lost.
“We are not here to have tune-up fights,” Rodríguez said via boxing scene. “I’m here to fight the best in every fight for the rest of my career. “I take every fight seriously as if it were a title fight.”

Estrada has competed professionally since 2008, eight years after Rodríguez was born. The two-pision champion went 2-1 against Román González in an epic trilogy, with the last fight coming in December 2022. Although that was the last time he fought, “El Gallo” does not back down from any challenge.
