On Mother’s Day, the Atlanta Hawks earned the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, despite having just a 3% chance of winning the lottery.
This is the first time in franchise history that the Hawks will have the first overall pick. Here’s a look at how fans reacted when Atlanta got the first pick.

It should come as no surprise that fans instantly called for Atlanta to hit the reset button and move Trae Young. The defensive tandem of Young and Dejounte Murray hasn’t worked out as expected, and there were already plenty of rumors that the Hawks would move one or both players.
Now, the Hawks can get a fresh start with a top prospect like Alexandre Sarr or Donovan Clingan who they can build around in the future. Young is likely high on the San Antonio Spurs’ wish list as they search for a guard to partner generational talent Victor Wembanyama. The Spurs own the fourth and eighth picks in the first round, giving them enough assets to acquire the 25-year-old star.
NBA OFF SZN matches will go crazy!!!! Hahaha ???

Others took the more positive route, envisioning a future duo of Young and his No. 1 pick. With the draft less than two months away, Hawks general manager Landry Fields has a lot of work to do.
