Taylor (19-1) is an accomplished fighter and former undisputed gold super lightweight champion. “The Tartan Tornado” beat Catterall for all the belts at 140 in 2022, winning a controversial split decision on the cards. Taylor has only fought once since then, losing for the first time as a professional against Teofimo López.
Injuries have affected Taylor’s ability to wrestle consistently. However, the 33-year-old believes he is at his best at the moment and will finish 2-0 against Catterall, this time without suffering any backlash.
“I think it’s pretty obvious [that I have the ability to perform better]“Taylor said in a DAZN streaming through Bad left hook. “It is quite obvious from my previous performances, titles and recognitions. I’ve done 100 things better. I think his style and the way he boxes (he does enough to try to win) the other guys coming into the pision now are good fighters and they take care of him without a problem.

“I don’t think I will become world champion. He will be the closest man to British boxing.”
Catterall (28-1) held the British super lightweight title at one point. “The Cat” has called out Taylor many times after the first fight, but he never got the rematch he wanted, and the Scot’s injuries also contributed to the long delay. He has since gone 2-0 after that fight and is finally ready to get his hands on Taylor.
“It is a relief that the fight is signed now. Two years, we’ve got it cornered and we’re in a position where we have the date and the location set, and we can figure it out,” Catterall said.
On the undercard, British gold is on the line, while local fighters look to impress on the card in Leeds.
