9-1-1: Lone Star may come to an end after its 12-episode fifth season airs this fall.
While production on the Fox scripted drama is underway, Deadline reports that series regular Sierra McClain has left the series following cast renegotiation drama, contributing to growing speculation that the series will conclude with next season.
McClain, who plays 9-1-1 operator Grace Ryder, was reportedly presented with a “take it or leave it” offer regarding her contract and ultimately decided on the latter.
In May, Fox Entertainment CEO Rob Wade told Deadline that there were hopes the network would renew the show after Season 5 aired. However, a renewal decision will likely be made before the premiere of autumn.
“Lone Star wasn’t on the show this year because of the strike, and we’re looking forward to doing it again in the fall,” Wade said during Fox’s live call at the time. “We are excited about the new season. “We’ll see how it goes, as always, and then we’ll make decisions about the future of that franchise.”
It has also been reported that Robyn Lively, who plays Judd’s (Jim Parrack) ex Marlene Harris on the show, previously shared a now-deleted Instagram post in tribute to the series’ “final season.”
“I’m so excited to be a part of the final season of @911lonestar!! What a journey it has been!”, the publication reads.
9-1-1: Lone Star is a derivative of 9-1-1 (which moved to ABC) and centers on Owen Strand (Rob Lowe), who captains an Austin, Texas, firehouse with his son, TK (Ronen Rubenstein).
In addition to Lowe, Rubinstein, Parrack and McClain, the series stars Gina Torres, Natacha Karam, Brian Michael Smith, Rafael Silva, Julian Works, Kelsey Yates, Skyler Yates and Brianna Baker.
