UFC returns to APEX in Las Vegas as flyweights collide. The main event will see Alex Perez take on Tatsuro Taira for flyweight bragging rights.
Perez (25-8) is 2-3 in his last five fights. The former TPF flyweight champion and UFC flyweight title contender failed to capture UFC gold in 2020 and has looked to bounce back. The 32-year-old is already 1-1 in 2024 and is fifth in the UFC rankings at 125.
“It helps remind the pision that I’m still here,” Perez said of his gutsy victory against Matheus Nicolau in April via MMA News. “My last fights weren’t the best. [Muhammad] The fight with Mokaev was tough; There were a lot of things happening. But I feel like I just put the entire pision on notice: I’m still here to stay.”
Ranked 13, Taira (15-0) is 4-0 in the octagon. The former Shooto flyweight champion was 3-0 in 2023 and has the longest active win streak (15) in the flyweight pision.
