As Euro 2024 approaches the knockout stage, matches are taking on an even greater level of importance.
Only 16 of the nations that qualified for the group stage will earn a place in the round of 16, meaning eight teams will return home from Germany before we reach July.
Now that most teams have played two of their three group matches, it is becoming clearer which teams will be in the knockout stages.
Here’s a rundown of the teams eliminated from Euro 2024 so far and information on when the knockout matches, including the final, will take place.

The 24-team format gives the Euros an initial round-robin phase of six groups of four. The top two in each section automatically qualify for the round of 16, and the four best third-place finishers will form the remaining teams in the first knockout phase.
From then on, the tournament is a direct knockout competition, with 30 minutes of extra time and a penalty shootout if necessary after any game tied at the end.
