Boston lavished praise on its title-winning Celtics on Friday, showering the 15-man squad in a shower of confetti as they raced down Causeway Street in those all-important Duck Boats.

It’s what they deserved after beating the Mavericks in five games in the NBA Finals. With their conquest over their Western Conference foes, the C’s put the finishing touches on a 16-3 postseason run, one of the best team runs in playoff history.

Domain like that breeds raucous celebration. For those at the center of those festivities, that can also bring a steady flow of libations.

Boston center Al Horford knows this all too well. He also made sure to dress the part, parading around Beantown in a jersey that pays tribute to former Patriots superstar Tom Brady…and his iron liver.

Here’s the story behind Horford’s eye-catching fashion choice.

Drunk Tom Brady Shirt, Explained

Brady prided himself on his ability to stay as tight as possible, never going too high or too low throughout his career.

However, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t had moments to let loose. The most obvious example was in February 2021, when Brady and the Buccaneers were able to share their victory in Super Bowl 55 with the residents of Tampa.

Brady traded his typical calm and composure for one caught in a drunken stupor, waltzing (and staggering) around town before being swept away in the arms of a teammate.

It was a moment that captivated the public and provoked quite funny reactions from people like Brady himself and LeBron James.

He also appears to have stayed at the nexus of sports and pop culture, particularly in the Northeast, where Brady shined brightest.

Horford, a Celtics veteran and history buff, is simply building on the foundation laid by Brady, JR Smith and other athletes who have celebrated their titles with aplomb… and plenty of alcohol.

Brady also seemed to be a fan of the gesture.

Horford made sure to go the extra mile to celebrate his first championship win. After 17 years, can you really blame him?
