The Philadelphia 76ers are anticipating a big splash this offseason, but who exactly they’re targeting is anyone’s guess.
Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George was the most discussed name for weeks, but NBA Insider Shams Charania has shot down that idea once again. On Thursday, he reported that Philadelphia’s interest in George is waning, followed by a comment on the Pat McAfee Show explaining that the Sixers are increasingly eager to make a move.
“The signal they’re giving to teams around the league is that they’re open to doing business,” Charania said. “They feel that over the next week they can be aggressive and if presented with an option, they can move.” and not having to wait for Paul George in free agency.”
With George seemingly off the table, people began to suspect that Zach LaVine (Chicago Bulls) or Brandon Ingram (New Orleans Pelicans) were their desired stars. However, numerous reports claim otherwise and consider both to be backup options. The only outcomes left are for the Sixers front office to pursue a superstar like Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat or LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers.
