Jayson Tatum is having an incredible year.
Two weeks after doing his part to lead the Celtics to the 2024 NBA championship, the 26-year-old is set to sign a record-breaking five-year supermax contract extension to remain with the franchise long-term. TNT Sports’ Chris Haynes reported on Monday.
While the move was expected, news of Tatum’s extension officially ensures that Boston’s championship core of Tatum, Finals MVP Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis and Derrick White will remain with the franchise through at least the 2025-26 season.

Jayson Tatum’s contract details
Tatum’s contract is for five years and worth up to $314 million. By Shams Charania of The AthleticThat makes it the largest contract in NBA history, surpassing the extension Brown signed last year.
Tatum is eligible for a supermax deal after earning First Team All-NBA honors in each of the past three seasons.
The deal will kick in with the 2025-26 season and is worth an estimated $54.1 million and will keep Tatum with the Celtics through at least the 2028-29 season, with a player option for the 2029-30 campaign.
