Despite news of a possible John Tucker must die sequel that features “the entire original cast,” two of the rom-com’s stars have yet to get a call about the project.
Brittany Snow, who played new girl Kate in the 2006 film, appeared on Thursday’s (July 4) episode of her Juan Tucker Co-star Penn Badgley Crushed Pod podcast, where they discussed the potential for their involvement if the sequel gets the green light, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“I don’t know if you’ve received a call, but I haven’t received one,” Snow told Badgley, who repeated that he had not received a call either.
“I mean, maybe it’s possible, like in superposition quantum physics, like everything is potentially within the realm of, for example, maybe this apple will fall upwards, I can’t really say for sure,” he joked.
Badgley, who played John Tucker’s (Jesse Metcalfe) brother Scott, acknowledged that he “had the smallest role in the movie” and doesn’t know “if [he] “I would belong there anyway.”
Snow replied, “I won’t do it if you don’t.”
Badgley added: “I never thought that was a possibility, but I guess if there was a script, I would read it.”
Metcalfe, Sophia Bush and Arielle Kebbel had addressed the news in March at Epic Cons Chicago, where Metcalfe said she had “been hearing rumors about this script circulating in Hollywood” and said that while she hadn’t read it yet, she noted that “apparently it’s amazing.” The thrMetcalfe has already read the script and said: Electronic News that the script “touches on many similar themes, but through the lens of the current landscape.”
At Epic Cons Chicago, Kebbel called the rumor “true,” explaining that he “started producing a few years ago.”
“There is a script. We are very proud of it. It involves the entire original cast,” he said at the time.
Bush also seemed optimistic about her involvement, saying she’s “ready to go” if the film is made.
Snow told Badgley on his podcast that he had been “talking to Arielle about this for years because I was trying to make it happen, but [she] “I didn’t know what happened.”
“And I was like, ‘Go ahead,’ you know? ‘Go ahead with it,’” he recalled. “But the last I heard about it, she was trying to make it happen. And I guess she did.”
However, he said he would “read everything” that comes his way, stressing that “they have worked very hard.”
