Last night on HBO In real time with Bill MaherThe presenter predicted the exact date he thinks Joe Biden will drop out of the presidential race.

Maher mentioned several possible replacements for the 81-year-old candidate, including Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg and Gretchen Whitmer, while insisting that “Biden is finished.”

He joked that “when” Biden decides to step aside, he will do so on Aug. 9, the same day Richard Nixon became the only president to resign in 1974 over his role in the Watergate scandal.

“The problem with President Biden is not whether he will do it, but who will do it,” Maher said. “Who will replace him? Because he is not going to be the Democrats’ nominee for president in 2024, with all due respect.”

The comedian and late-night host says he believes Biden doesn’t stand a chance because the American press and politics are run by “mean girls” who will do anything to destroy a “vulnerable person.”

“Biden is finished. The walls will continue to come down and my choice for office when he steps down is August 9,” Maher said.

“Yes, replacing a president as the candidate of his party at this stage will seem like a big deal,” he added. “For about three days, and then we will forget all about it.”

If elected, Harris would become the first woman, the first Black woman and the first Asian woman to serve as president, but Maher says that doesn’t affect her vote.

“I don’t vote for who will be first, I vote for who would win, and for whatever reason, Harris has never been popular,” Maher said before criticizing her bid to run for president in 2020.

“You can count on one hand the number of delegates he won in the 2020 primaries, as long as that hand doesn’t have fingers.”

“In three years as vice president, she has been quieter than an electric car.”

Maher talked a bit more about his other suggestions for Biden’s replacement, which include some lesser-known governors like Wes Moore (MD), Andy Beshear (KY), Josh Shapiro (PA), Jared Polis (CO), and JB Pritzker (IL).

“Nobody knows who these people are, and that’s a good thing. We need some new characters in this comedy we call a country,” Maher said.
