Normal people Star Daisy Edgar-Jones says she is “open” to reprising the role that made her famous and catapulted her career.
The BBC romantic drama series, which also starred Paul Mescal, was based on Sally Rooney’s best-selling novel and centred on two young lovers facing the challenges of life, school and growing up.
Edgar-Jones, who starred as Marianne alongside Connell (Mescal) on the hit show, said BBC News: “I love those characters. It would be wonderful to explore them again.” He added: “If [Rooney] is ready to write a new story, who knows… I will keep it open. Always open.”
The series premiered in April 2020 on BBC Three in the UK and Hulu in the US and was watched by millions of households during the pandemic lockdowns. Edgar-Jones told the BBC: “It introduced Paul and I to a lot of people and filmmakers.”
While there has been no talk of bringing back Normal peopleAt least it’s exciting to know that Edgar-Jones is willing to star in some additional version of it.
Since the series ended, Edgar-Jones has starred in the films. Cool and Where the crabs sing and will appear alongside Glen Powell in Tornadoeswhich will be released this month.
Mescal was nominated for an Oscar in 2023 for his role in the film After the sun in 2023 and is set to star in the highly anticipated Gladiator II.
As for her upcoming role alongside Powell, Edgar-Jones said, “I feel like I have a habit of acting with a lot of the men of the moment.” Powell has starred in hits like Top Gun: Maverick, Nobody but youand Hitman.
