The Philadelphia 76ers were able to retain veteran point guard Kyle Lowry this offseason despite interest from the Phoenix Suns.

One team that apparently never showed interest in Lowry was the New York Knicks, or better known as the ‘Villanova Knicks.’ The addition of star forward Mikal Bridges brings New York’s roster to four former Wildcats, but Lowry could have been the fifth.

The 38-year-old recently took part in a golf tournament, where the announcer declared during Lowry’s introduction: “He opted not to join the Villanova Knicks this year. Please welcome Kyle Lowry!”

The former Wildcats guard started laughing and said, “They didn’t want me.”

Lowry, on the other hand, is returning to the Sixers, where he will look to take home the second championship of his career. He averaged 8 points and 4.6 assists on 44.4% shooting during his time in Philadelphia last season.

With the Knicks and 76ers being some of the strongest contenders in the Eastern Conference, it’s a real possibility that Lowry will face off against many players from his alma mater.
