Liverpool are preparing for a new era in the 2024/25 Premier League season with Arne Slot set to make his English football debut.
The Dutch manager formally took charge at the beginning of June as the club begins a new chapter at Anfield following the departure of iconic boss Jürgen Klopp.
Klopp shocked the Premier League by announcing his intention to leave Liverpool at the end of last season in January after winning seven major trophies on Merseyside.
The German ended Liverpool’s three-decade wait for a top-flight league title in 2020 after securing the club’s sixth European Cup/UEFA Champions League crown in 2019.
However, players and fans are beginning to adjust to life under Slot, with the former Feyenoord boss having a noticeably different character to Klopp.

While Klopp’s Liverpool were associated with his “heavy metal” style of football, with high pressing and turnovers, Slot’s approach is more possession-based, and midfield star Harvey Elliott is enjoying a revamp.
“It’s a very elegant style, very Dutch, very beautiful. The style of play is very different. It’s more about possession now,” he said during Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States.
“The players are excited, we play certain patterns, there is a good atmosphere in the team and the boys are excited to apply it in the games.
“It’s a new beginning for everyone. I don’t think it’s nerves, but excitement. I think we’ll learn very quickly. In the last game we saw that there were certain moments where the football flowed freely.”
Elliott started Liverpool’s first game of their US tour, as Slot claimed a 1-0 win over Real Betis, before facing Arsenal on July 31 in Philadelphia.
Liverpool will end their North American sojourn against fierce rivals Manchester United on August 3 in North Carolina before kicking off their Premier League campaign against newly promoted Ipswich Town on August 17.
