With doubts over Richarlison’s long-term future and the possibility of 20-year-old Alejo Veliz joining Fiorentina on loan, it is no secret that Ange Postecoglou wants a new striker at his disposal in north London before the summer transfer window closes.

The Australian manager appears set to abandon his strategy of using Son Heung-min as a centre-forward despite the South Korean ace’s incredible 17 goals and 10 assists last season.

Postecoglou admitted as much in a recent interview: “I think for us the most important thing is the type of striker we have. You know, we play in a certain way. We demand certain things from a physical perspective and from the technical aspects so that the striker fits into that mould.”

“It’s still the area of the park where we probably have the fewest players in terms of squad at the moment, so obviously that’s a focus for us.”

Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke has emerged as a potential transfer target, with the forward, who won one cap for England, scoring 19 goals for the Cherries during the 2023-24 season.

A fee in excess of £50m would be required to secure Solanke’s services to test Bournemouth’s resolve. Spurs have the financial resources to push through such a deal and are considering bringing the former Liverpool striker to north London.

Solanke has sparked further speculation about his future by posting a cryptic quote in his intriguing Instagram story that said: “No dream is too big, no goal too ambitious. Dare to dream and dare to make it happen.”

And it didn’t take long for Spurs fans to interpret the phrase “Dare to dream” as a possible indication of his desire to join the club, especially considering Tottenham’s motto is “To dare is to do.”

Many have seen the appointment as a sign that Solanke is eager to compete at the highest level and challenge for trophies, which is precisely what Tottenham aim to do under Ange Postecoglou in the upcoming 2024-25 season.
