Carlo Ancelotti has assured fans that Jude Bellingham’s role at Real Madrid will remain unchanged despite the arrival of Kylian Mbappe.
The Real Madrid manager also dismissed criticism of Bellingham’s performances at the Euros.
Ancelotti comments on Jude Bellingham at the Euros
Speaking to English media in Charlotte, where Real Madrid are preparing to face Chelsea, Ancelotti said:
“Nothing has changed for him. Nothing has changed. The first season he was very surprising because he showed fantastic quality, he is a very mature boy. Next season will be no different.”
Ancelotti went on to praise Bellingham’s contributions:
“He will be one of the best players we have and he will support the team with his quality. It is an opinion, but Bellingham played very well at the Euros. England played very well, reached the final and came close to winning it.”
Real Madrid are preparing for a long 2024-25 season, which begins with this pre-season trip to the United States and concludes with the Club World Cup next summer. Despite the demanding schedule, Ancelotti was confident in his squad’s ability to face the challenges.
Ancelotti comments on Chelsea’s squad and Kepa’s performance
Ancelotti, who previously managed Chelsea and led them to Premier League and FA Cup wins, also shared his thoughts on the current situation at his former club. He urged Chelsea’s new ownership to show patience with manager Enzo Maresca, saying:
“A lot has changed. They have invested a lot. They have a good squad, good players, young people. They have a young coach. The owners need a bit of patience to gain experience and grow.”
Ancelotti also ruled out signing Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who was on loan at Real Madrid last season. “In that position, we are covered.” Ancelotti said.
“Kepa did very well last season. He was with us. We were very happy to have him here, but I don’t know what will happen this season. We love him. We love him.”
