Barcelona have reportedly reached a verbal agreement to sign Spanish international Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig this summer.
The attacking midfielder, who was instrumental in Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph, will return to Camp Nou on a long-term contract.
A number of big clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City and of course Barcelona were interested in signing the Bundesliga star, and the Blaugrana ended up winning the race.
Having come through the renowned La Masia academy, it’s no surprise that Olmo is keen to return to the club that helped shape his early career.
At the age of 16, he left his hometown to sign for Croatia, where he shone for Dinamo Zagreb. His impressive performances there earned him a return to the top flight of European football when he signed for Leipzig in 2019.
Dani Olmo’s transfer price to Barcelona
Barcelona sporting director Deco travelled to Germany to finalise the deal with RB Leipzig.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the two clubs have agreed on a transfer fee of €55 million ($60 million) up front, with an additional €7 million ($7.65 million) in performance-based add-ons. This brings the total cost of the transfer to €62 million ($67.65 million). Olmo is expected to sign a six-year contract that will keep him at Barcelona until 2030.
Olmo, who graduated from La Masia in 2014, never got the chance to play for Barcelona’s senior team before moving to Dinamo Zagreb and then RB Leipzig in 2020. His return to Camp Nou marks a full stop to his career.

Dani Olmo’s contract, salary and wages
Olmo will join Barcelona on a contract that runs until 2030. His initial salary is expected to be similar to what he earned at RB Leipzig, around 11 million euros ($12 million) a year.
With the formalities almost complete, Olmo hopes to join Hansi Flick’s side in time for Barcelona’s season-opening game against Valencia on August 17. This signing marks an important addition to Barcelona’s midfield, as Olmo brings creativity and experience to the team.
