Just one day after a surprise. Bachelor announcement, ABC revealed the cast for the upcoming season of The Golden Bacheloretteand Bachelor Nation’s prayers have been answered: Mark Anderson is returning to television screens!
If Mark’s name doesn’t ring a bell, you may not have seen Joey Graziadei’s season. The BachelorIf you did, you’ll probably remember that Mark is the father of Season 28 winner Kelsey Anderson, and after meeting him during their hometown date, Bachelor Nation was rooting for him as… Golden Bachelor lead or The Golden Bachelorette contestant.
According to Tuesday’s casting announcement, the 57-year-old Army veteran from Leesville, Louisiana, will be one of 24 men hoping to find love with The Golden Bachelorette lead and Golden Bachelor Student Joan Vassos.
According to its official statement The Golden Bachelorette bio, “Mark is ready for love after a loss. You might recognize Mark as Kelsey Anderson’s dad and Joey Graziadei’s future father-in-law! Inspired by Kelsey and Joey’s love story, Mark is excited for this chance to find love again. Mark is empathetic and warm and has dedicated his life to working for the military. His five children are his biggest support and he can’t wait to have grandchildren one day.”
“Mark loved to watch The golden bachelor “Mark is here to find his person and hopefully return home with Joan by his side,” the bio continues. “He loves traveling to visit his children and hopes to meet a woman to put down roots with again.

During Kelsey’s first one-on-one date with Joey, she explained that her mom and dad met in the military when they were both military police officers. She shared that her mom was diagnosed with breast cancer a decade ago, which metastasized to her bones, explaining, “They gave her six months, and after that it was very aggressive, and after two months she passed away.” During their second one-on-one date, Kelsey expressed deep admiration for her father, Mark, noting that he watched his wife die, but raised Kelsey and her siblings with so much love through her grief. She told him that her mother would be proud of her for herBachelortrip, and before the hometown date, Kelsey noted that it would be a tough day for her father without her mother by his side.

The preparation for Mark was certainly important, and the Bachelor Dad did not disappoint. As noted in our previous article, in addition to being a total ZADDY, Mark showed an incredible heart by gifting Kelsey an album of photos of her mother, having a firm but fair talk about his intentions with Joey, and giving a glimpse into his own love story with Kelsey’s mother. After speaking with Joey, Mark told the cameras that he felt calm. And in a heartfelt and vulnerable conversation with Kelsey, he said, “I want all of you to feel what I felt with your mother.” (I’ll be right back, I cried!)
In an interview with Kelsey and Joey in March, Jugo Mobile asked them how they would feel if Mark was cast in the role.
