Arsenal have reportedly rejected Ajax Amsterdam’s offer to sign goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on loan this summer.
The 26-year-old, who lost his starting place to David Raya last season, has found his future at Arsenal increasingly uncertain.
Ajax’s attempt to secure Ramsdale on a temporary deal was quickly rejected by Arsenal, according to The Athletic, who are instead pushing for a permanent transfer.
The north London club have already identified Espanyol’s Joan Garcia as a possible replacement if Ramsdale leaves.

Ramsdale’s fall from grace at Arsenal was highlighted during the 2023-24 season, in which he made just six appearances following Raya’s arrival from Brentford. His absence from Arsenal’s recent friendlies has only fuelled speculation over his future at the club.
Last season, he faced more shots per game than Raya, but performed admirably, conceding just one more goal (non-penalty) than expected.

Despite his reduced role, Ramsdale remains highly rated and clubs across Europe are interested in his talents. His ability to play in a possession-based system and his skills as a goalkeeper-sweeper make him an attractive option for top teams.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s decision to pursue a permanent transfer suggests they are preparing for significant changes to their goalkeeping line-up.
