Celtics star Jaylen Brown is redefining the parameters of a versatile wing player.
A few months after winning Finals MVP, Brown teamed up with multi-platinum artist Ferg (formerly A$AP Ferg) to release a single titled “Just Do It.”
Brown, 27, is one of the most interesting players in the NBA. With a wide range of off-court activities under his belt, it’s no surprise that he decided to show off his artistic talent in the realm of music.

Jaylen Brown-Ferg Song Explained
On August 22, an X account (formerly Twitter) called @OnThinIce reported that a single from Brown and Ferg would be released on August 23. The report aligned with a TikTok video from July documenting Brown’s time in the studio.

Brown released the official music video featuring Ferg on his YouTube page on August 22. You can watch it below.
Despite the song’s title, Brown makes no mention of Nike, a brand whose slogan is “Just do it.” Brown has had issues with Nike before and has been vocal about his disagreements with the brand.
Although the song may seem like it came out of nowhere, it took years to make.
Jaylen Brown and Ferg’s Relationship, Explained
Brown and Ferg had a close relationship throughout most of Brown’s NBA career.
In 2019, Ferg offered the Celtics star a personalized chain and pendant to celebrate his 23rd birthday. Two years later, the two collaborated on a courtyard project at the famous Rucker Park in Harlem, New York, where Ferg is from.
Ferg is also no stranger to the courtside at TD Garden, where he supported Brown from the courtside seats.
Ferg even foreshadowed what was to come in 2021.

Whether or not Brown’s rap career is over remains to be seen, but he joins a long list of NBA stars who can at least have some fun in the studio. Perhaps we could see Brown collaborate with another NBA player in the near future.
