As the summer transfer window draws closer to its conclusion, Chelsea have been urged to reconsider their interest in Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho.
Former United striker Louis Saha has warned the Blues that signing Sancho would be “very bad business”, especially with the abundance of young attacking talent already at Stamford Bridge.
Sancho, who has struggled to secure a permanent place at Manchester United, has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with Chelsea reportedly interested in the 23-year-old.
However, Saha believes that the move would not benefit either party. Speaking to Betfred, Saha expressed his doubts, saying: “It will be a very bad deal for sure because it’s really hard to see how it can work because of all the other young attacking players already at Chelsea.”
Sancho to Chelsea? Saha thinks it makes no sense
Saha also questioned why Sancho was so keen to join Chelsea, given the competition for places. He noted that while Sancho may be looking to play regularly in the first team, there was still a place for him at United, should the manager decide to keep him.
Saha didn’t stop there; he also gave his opinion on recent rumours linking Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling with a move to United.
The former striker made it clear that Sterling, due to his age, does not “fit” what United need at the moment.
Saha said: “He’s a great player but I don’t see Raheem as a player that’s up to par for Manchester United. I know we need that little bit more but I’d rather see Marcus Rashford fit than sign another player in the same position.”
As the transfer window countdown continues, Chelsea and United are facing crucial decisions that could shape their seasons ahead. With the futures of Sancho and Sterling still up in the air, it’s clear that not everyone is convinced that these moves would be the right move for the clubs involved.
