Mortal Kombat 1 already released a Kombat Pack filled with guest characters, with a second pack and the first story expansion on the way.
MK1 has a brilliant starting roster, with a plethora of fan-favorite characters. Every time new fighters join the game, the game and the community thrive once again.
The next addition of new characters will come in the form of a second DLC pack, which will launch alongside a story expansion called Khaos Reigns.
Here’s what you need to know about Mortal Kombat 1’s past and future DLC offerings.

Mortal Kombat 1 DLC Characters Confirmed
NetherRealm released the final Kombat Pack 1 fighter – Takeda – in July 2024. The full list of characters featured in the first pack includes all of the following.
Combat Pack 1
Ermac
Ermac is the famous character that was created as a result of a supposed bug in the original Mortal Kombat: the error macro bug. Ermac was eventually transformed into a full-fledged character with ninja outfits.
Quan Chi
The confounding Quan Chi has been a fan-favorite character since his inclusion in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero. An expert sorcerer, Quan-Chi has remained a staple of the franchise, and MK1 was no exception.
Takeda Takahashi
Takeda Takahashi, one of the newest members of the MK universe, was previously depicted as Kenshi’s son. However, Liu Kang’s rebooted world made Takeda a member of the Yakuza and a cousin of the blind ninja.
The Protector
It marked a surprising debut for The Boys franchise in Mortal Kombat considering the addition of Homelander in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, but it shows just how big this series has become.
Generally considered the poster boy for America, Homelander is anything but, and as arguably the most powerful superhero in The Boys, the villainous “hero” fits perfectly into the MK universe.
Peacemaker
Played by John Cena in The Suicide Squad and the Peacemaker TV series, this character is another morally grey hero with a bit of evil in him. Plus, his addition means we’ll technically be getting John Cena in Mortal Kombat. Hard to argue with that.
Omni-Man
But the list of comic book characters doesn’t stop there. Invincible’s Omni-Man was the first fighter invited to join the MK1 roster. He possesses superhuman strength, superhuman speed, and is virtually impervious to pain, making him a tough fighter.
Kombat 2 Pack
NetherRealm revealed its plans for Mortal Kombat 1’s second year at SDCC 2024. Those plans include the release of six more guest fighters, all listed below.
Cyrax
Cyrax returns to Mortal Kombat as a gender-bending version of the fan-favorite cyborg. Little is known about Cyrax in the rebooted universe, but a trailer for the Khaos Reigns expansion suggests that his loyalty to his Grandmaster, Sub-Zero, will soon be put to the test.
Sector
The red cyborg made his debut alongside Cyrax in Mortal Kombat 3. They both appear in MK1 as Kameo fighters, but the upcoming DLC marks their return as playable characters. And it looks like the two cybernetic ninjas will eventually face off.
Noob Saibot
Voice actor Kaiji Tang will reprise his role as Noob Saibot, who will be going by the name Bi-Han. What this means for MK1’s Sub-Zero remains to be seen. However, a press release previously stated that Titan Havik had taken control of Sub-Zero’s soul, turning him into a henchman “dedicated to fomenting anarchy.”
Conan the Barbarian
This long-rumored character will finally make his Mortal Kombat debut. Interestingly, the sword-and-sorcery hero is the second character associated with Arnold Schwarzenegger to use his likeness in an MK title. (MK11 featured the T-800 Terminator from Terminator: Dark Fate.)
T-1000
Speaking of Terminator, the T-1000 from the original series sequel, Judgment Day, will soon be joining the fight as well. Actor Robert Patrick has confirmed that he will be reprising his role for the iconic role.
Ghost Face
Scream villain Ghostface is another character who has already appeared in MK1-related leaks. He’s considered the latest horror icon to take on the Mortal Kombat roster, following Freddy Krueger, The Predator, Jason, and Leatherface.
For the launch of Year 2, Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot will launch alongside Khaos Reigns on September 24. NetherRealm has not announced launch dates for Ghostface, Conan, and T-1000.
Mortal Kombat 1 rumored DLC characters
In addition to the confirmed DLC characters, many names have also been rumored.
- Cassie Cage
- Jade
- Kano
- Kung-Jin
- Kotal Kahn
- He-Man
- Death blow
- Fate Killer
- Harley Quinn
It’s worth noting that every character confirmed for Kombat Pack 2 was previously on a list of leaked and rumored fighters.
Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns
In addition to the Kombat Pack character reveals, the Khaos Reigns story expansion also took center stage at SDCC 2024.
The story expansion will arrive on September 24 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch. Players will have the option to purchase the bundle for $60, which will include Khaos Reigns, Kombat Pack 2, and one-week early access for all guest fighters.
An $89.99+ offering called Khaos Reigns Kollection will include the base game, both Kombat Packs, and the upcoming story DLC.
