Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter), in a bid to compete with YouTube and present itself as a video platform, has launched an app for smart TVs.
Since taking control of Twitter, Elon Musk has repeatedly revealed that he wants to turn it into a multi-purpose app.
It revealed plans to add peer-to-peer payment options to X and convert it into a video-focused platform.
While the payment services are yet to be launched, the billionaire announced that the beta version of the X TV app is now available on various smart TV platforms.
X users suggest that the app is online on the Google Play Store for TVsAmazon App Store and LG App Storeentering directly into your living spaces.
While some users suggest that they use the X TV app for over a weeksome screenshots claim it is available since August 29.
That said, we couldn’t locate it on our Google TV-powered smart TV, and even though the app was available on the Amazon App Store, we couldn’t download it. We’ll give the app another chance when it’s available.
The app may be rolled out gradually, so we’ll have to wait.
According to users, the app requires you to log in with your X account in order to stream content.
Additionally, some users who were able to log in and experience the app suggest that the interface seems similar to YouTube and contains advertisements.
According to Elon Musk’s post, this is a beta version. However, we can expect a stable version to be released soon and be available for users worldwide.
It is possible that users subscribed to the premium tier of X will see fewer ads while free users will have to see more. But we will have to wait for more details.
