After an impressive year that ended with a first-round playoff exit, the Orlando Magic made moves this offseason, hoping to go even further next season.

The Magic made a big signing this offseason in point guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. But as the team looks to bolster its depth ahead of the upcoming season, Orlando has signed four free agents to compete with as training camp looms.

“The Orlando Magic have signed four free agents: guard/forward Jarrett Culver, guard Myron Gardner, forward Jalen Slawson and forward Tre Scott,” the team announced Thursday.

Of the players drafted, Culver is perhaps the most notable. The former 2019 lottery pick had high hopes entering the league but never quite found his feet over his first four years.

However, in 29 G-League games last season, the Texas Tech product averaged 20.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.9 steals on 38 percent shooting from three-point range. If the forward’s ability to make shots can translate throughout camp and the preseason, he could turn heads.

At 25, the former Big 12 Player of the Year has the skills to make an immediate contribution.

That said, Culver will be a name to watch for a chance to make the team’s opening day roster.
