Manchester City fans can breathe easy as star midfielder Rodri has responded to speculation over his future.
Despite the growing interest from Real Madrid, the Spaniard made his position clear: “I have three years left at Manchester City and when I sign the contract I will not think about other teams.”
Rodri, who played a pivotal role in City’s treble and Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph, has become a key figure at the Etihad.
Manchester City’s huge offer to keep Rodri
Rodri’s current contract runs until 2027, but City are reportedly offering a new deal that would increase his earnings to match those of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland.
The looming shadow of Real Madrid has sparked rumours, with the Spanish giants considering Rodri as their top target.
But even Real Madrid might struggle to make the move happen, with City’s financial clout being greater than Real Madrid’s. There are reports that Real would struggle to pay the exorbitant transfer fee that City is demanding.
Rodri, although flattered by the rumours and the recognition of the Ballon d’Or in Spain, seems focused on his journey at City: “It would be a dream. I am very happy with what City and I have achieved. It is all the result of hard work and consistency.”

For Real Madrid to have a chance, the only hope may lie in a severe sanction from Manchester City as part of the ongoing Financial Fair Play investigation. But even then, Rodri seems determined to continue his journey at City.
With a bright future at the club and his feet still firmly on the ground, City fans can count on their midfield maestro to remain in blue for the foreseeable future.
