As the NBA season approaches, social media has been busy with many new City Edition jerseys for teams being leaked.
Fans across the country have had their say on the new jerseys, but a team’s new threads can took the cake.
“The new Toronto Raptors City Edition jersey pays tribute to Vince Carter’s iconic dunk contest and his between-the-legs dunk,” ESPN’s Nick DePaula said on social media. “Vince will be inducted into the Hall of Fame next month.”
Carter was selected with the fifth overall pick in the 1998 NBA draft. The former North Carolina player was selected by the Golden State Warriors before being immediately traded to the Raptors. The versatile guard spent most of his 22-year career in Toronto, but had the chance to play for seven different teams throughout his NBA career.
The high-flyer had many highlights in his career, but he is best known for his iconic 360-degree dunk in the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest. However, Carter was more than just a dunker, the eight-time All-Star averaged 16.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists while shooting 43.5 percent from the field and 37.1 percent from three-point range.
The Florida native will be inducted into the Hall of Fame next month and will wear the new Raptors jerseys to celebrate his impressive career and classic moments in the league.
