Fame comes with a price — and sometimes it’s a price people shouldn’t have to pay — and Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell knows that firsthand as he was forced to sell his home due to security concerns.
According to Nick Manes of Crain’s Detroit BusinessCampbell revealed that he had to sell his house after fans found out where he lived and would reportedly show up at his house, which is unfortunate to say the least.
“The neighborhood, everything,” Campbell said of what he loved about the house. “There’s a lot of space, it’s on 2 acres, the house is beautiful. It’s just that people understood where we lived when we lost.”
It is simply horrific to hear that the fans are behind this. There is absolutely no loss serious enough to warrant disturbing a professional manager or player in their own home. Truly despicable behaviour.
The home was listed for sale earlier this week for $4.5 million, but was quickly marked as “pending” after a day. The buyers’ identities are unknown, but Crain’s has revealed that they are “big” Lions fans.
“This is the place everyone wants to live,” Ashley Crain said of Campbell’s home. “It’s hard to find a newer home of this quality. There’s not much on the market. This was a diamond in the rough.”
Campbell was hired as the Lions’ head coach in 2021 and helped revive the franchise with back-to-back winning seasons, including a 12-5 campaign in 2023 that saw the Lions advance to the NFC Championship Game.
