The Atlanta Hawks have had a busy offseason, reshaping their roster for next year. Heading into the season, Atlanta has continued to scout the free agent market.
The Hawks traded Dejounte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans in one of the first blockbuster trades of the summer. Leaving Trae Young as the building block, general manager Landry Fields continues to work the phones as the The team is rebuilding its backyard.
“The Atlanta Hawks have reached an agreement with Kevon Harris,” HoopHype’s Michael Scotto reported Wednesday. “Harris spent the last two seasons with the Orlando Magic and played in 36 total games.”
Harris played his college years at SF Austin, where he averaged 14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists throughout his four-year career. The point guard went undrafted in the 2020 NBA draft, but he found himself selected with the 11th overall pick a year later in the 2021 NBA G-League draft.
The 1.95 m point guard spent most of his time playing for the Magic’s G-League affiliate last season. In 27 games with the Osceola Magic, Harris averaged 16.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 49.2 percent from the floor and 38.1 percent from three-point range.
Today, the 27-year-old lands in Atlanta on an Exhibit 10 deal with a chance to make the team’s roster.
