The Chicago Bulls have a lot of work to do from a management standpoint.
The Bulls, as they currently stand, are too good to be eliminated and not good enough to scare anyone in the Eastern Conference. Chicago is stuck in NBA purgatory, and there’s no worse place to be organizationally.
The Chicago Bears have been trying to trade Zach LaVine for years, and Nikola Vucević has also been on the trade list for months. No takers.
The Bulls may have to bundle some of their most valuable assets to get rid of either player. It’s hard to know who Chicago should turn to for trade partners, but everything should be on the table.
As much as the Bulls would like to make Coby White untouchable, they may not have the luxury of doing so given the circumstances just described.
In a new report This week, Bleacher Nation’s Elias Schuster interestingly identified White as Chicago’s top trade asset.
“I debated this morning who the Bulls’ best trade asset right now would be,” Schuster said. “The easy answer is Coby White, especially after his 2023-24 campaign. But how much of a market does he really get you right now? Does he get you a lightly protected first-rounder and another young player?”
“Can he get you two first places? If that’s the return for your best “If you’re not a professional player, you know you’re in a tough spot. Patrick Williams looked like a potential trade asset, but the new contract has likely lowered his value. Ayo Dosumu could generate a lot of interest, but enough to warrant a real trade?”
“The main reason I bring this up is that the Bulls need to keep all options on the table moving forward. When you’re in rebuild mode, almost no one is safe.”
It would be sad to see White leave the team, but Chicago is running out of viable options to turn its roster around. Maybe it’s time to make Josh Giddey and Matas Buzelis the only untouchables and go from there.
