The Detroit Pistons are desperate to get back into the Eastern Conference game. After years of mediocrity, the team is hoping one of its key young players can step up to the plate.
The Pistons have selected several lottery picks in recent years. One of them has the potential to coming out this season.
“After a year where the former lottery pick was shuffled around in terms of minutes, role and even on-court responsibilities, (Jaden) Ivey is now ready to enter his third year finally with some stability attached to his name,” writes Morten Stig Jensen of Forbes.
“The athletic 6-foot-4 guard has all the physical tools you need from a hard-hitting, high-scoring two-way guard, and his recent past suggests he could explode onto the scene for the 2024-25 season.”
Ivey was selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. The former Purdue star entered the league with high hopes from the Pistons organization. In two seasons with the team, the point guard is averaging 15.8 points, 4.5 assists and 3.4 rebounds on 42.2% three-point shooting and 33.6% three-point shooting.
At 22, Ivey still has plenty of room to grow, but he’s shown signs of the potential he was drafted for. If the third-year player can put all of that together, he could become a star for the Pistons in the future.
