Sean Dyche is not feeling the pressure as Everton manager ahead of their crucial Premier League clash at Leicester City on September 21.
The Toffees have endured a nightmare start to the season with four defeats in their first four league games and 13 goals conceded.
Despite Dyche’s reputation for leading a solid defensive unit, Everton have conceded more goals than any other Premier League team so far, and they suffered a midweek Carabao Cup defeat to fellow struggling side Southampton.
Dyche still has credit in the bank, having guided Everton to safety last season following two separate points deductions by the Premier League.
However, after investing in new strikers over the summer, fans were optimistic of an improvement but they continue to flounder.
In successive Premier League games, the Merseysiders have squandered two-goal leads to lose 3-2 to Bournemouth and Aston Villa, but Dyche insists he is focused on the task at hand.
“Pressure is never something I’ve thought too much about. I respect the fans, I say that very clearly, the way they supported me, the team and the club for many years before I arrived,” according to quotes from BBC Sport.
“All I do is work as hard as I can to build a team that’s going to win games. The idea of being a hero to zero or zero to a hero, it comes and goes very quickly. I try to stay true to what’s in front of me and that’s the truth of what we’re trying to accomplish here.”
Despite Dyche’s tough stance, he is favourite with several bookmakers to be the first Premier League manager to be shown the door this season, particularly if he fails to secure a positive result at the King Power Stadium this weekend.
