The New Zealand Breakers have landed a massive signing – literally – with former NBA great Tacko Fall set to join the team.
Fall, who stands at 2.28m and is tied for the second-tallest person to ever play in the NBA, will join the Breakers on their three-game tour of the United States during the AHL pre-season.
But despite being a monster signing for the team, it will be a short-term deal for now, with ESPN report that Fall’s contract will not extend beyond the team’s stay in the United States.

Former NBA great and cult hero Fall will suit up for the Breakers when they travel to the United States to take on a number of NBA teams.
Fall most recently played for the Puerto Rican team Piratas de Quebradillas, but spent four years in the NBA and G-League from 2019 to 2022, playing for the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers.
He’ll likely use those games with the Breakers as an audition to return to the NBA, after spending time in both Puerto Rico and China, but his play will add excitement to an already promising program.
Over two weeks, the New Zealand-based NBL team will face the Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers and Oklahoma City Thunder, continuing the ongoing NBLxNBA matchups that have become a staple of both seasons in recent years.
The Breakers will play week two, but will miss weeks three and four, returning for week five of the NBL after those NBA clashes.

At 2.38 meters, Tall’s imposing frame makes him the second tallest player to ever play in the NBA, alongside Yao Ming and Shawn Bradley, behind only the 2.30 meter pair of Manute Bol and Gheorghe Muresan.
He is the tallest player ever signed by an NBL team, breaking the previous record of former Brisbane Bullets (2021-22) big man Chuanxing Liu at 7ft 5in.
Before Liu, Sam Harris, who played for the Singapore Slingers, Perth Wildcats and Adelaide 36ers between 2008 and 2011, was the league’s tallest player at 7ft 3in.
