The Miami Heat have become one of the league’s top teams in terms of NBA Draft picks.
The Heat are looking to get back to winning ways after a first-round playoff exit last year. While the team hopes to find consistency in its roster, it may have to rely on new faces.
“Draft watchers and Summer League spectators won’t be surprised if (Kel’El) Ware breaks out in his first season with the Heat,” writes Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report.
“The 2.13m player averaged 17.4 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game in Vegas, using his size to alter shots around the basket and a surprisingly patient back-to-the-basket game to create space and shoot short hooks over smaller opponents.”
“In a draft class that most consider to be short on superstars, Ware could shine at a reward-worthy level if he’s given a big enough role.”
Ware was selected 15th overall in this year’s draft after an impressive sophomore season at Indiana. The big man averaged 15.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and an impressive 1.9 blocks per game.
As the Heat look to allow Bam Adebayo to play more power forward, the team could use the addition of Ware to do so.
If the 20-year-old gets playing time early in his career, he could undoubtedly be the underdog to win the rookie of the year award.
