The offseason is the perfect time for NBA fanatics to make confident player predictions for the upcoming season.
Many players hope to thrive, but one 2020 Hall of Fame inductee identified an underrated Phoenix Suns superstar one to watch in the 2024-25 season.
“I consider Devin Booker one of those unsung heroes that we don’t forget,” Kevin Garnett said on the Ticket & the Truth podcast. “We have not forgotten how cold this man is. I think it’s up to him to come back and remind us who he really is. He’s going to have a good year this year. Watch.”
Garnett, who played 21 seasons in the NBA and received 12 All-Defensive team honors, clearly has high expectations for the four-time All-Star. Last season, Booker averaged 27.1 points per game on 49.2 percent shooting from three and helped the Suns secure their fourth straight playoff berth. Unfortunately, the Suns’ big three of Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal failed to guide Phoenix to the second round of the playoffs.
In nine seasons, Booker has only made it past the Western Conference semifinals once, which might explain why he’s one of the NBA’s most scrutinized phenoms. That said, Booker’s offensive genius undoubtedly makes him a Top 25 player.
The 6-foot-6 guard is a patient ball handler with complete control on the offensive end. He refuses to be lured into attempting low-percentage jump shots on the perimeter. Instead, he assesses his defenders before methodically attacking one side of the field. He has a fluid pull-up that allows him to find an offensive rhythm. He also has a low post-match score, giving him an extra scoring tactic to use.
Of course, Booker’s next step is to achieve consistent success in the playoffs, but he has already established himself as one of the best scorers in the NBA.
