Of the NFL’s newest entrants, there is one receiver who has established himself as arguably the best rookie pass-catcher in the league so far.
Malik Nabers was selected sixth overall by the Giants in the 2024 draft out of LSU, the second Tiger picked after quarterback Jayden Daniels went to Washington at No. 2. The former teammates have undoubtedly been the most impressive newcomers this season for their respective franchises as well as the most impressive in the league.
Unfortunately for Nabers, though, that momentum came to a screeching halt in Week 4 when he went down with a concussion in the final quarter of New York’s loss to their division rival Cowboys.
Concussion recovery in the NFL is extremely subjective, relying on the player’s injury history, the severity of the hit and other factors. When it comes to Nabers, it’s worth mentioning he is just 21-years-old and did not suffer a serious head issue in his brief collegiate career.
This probably explains why the rookie felt it was appropriate to attend a Travis Scott concert while still working his way through concussion protocol. Now having been ruled out for Week 6’s matchup against the Bengals, Nabers is facing his first NFL controversy.

Attendees at the rapper’s Oct. 9 edition of the UTOPIA tour were quick to notice Nabers and teammate Isaiah Simmons at Scott’s MetLife performance. The show marked his final set on the North American leg of the tour in the sold-out stadium.

What did Giants coach Brian Daboll say about Malik Nabers-Travis Scott concert?
It’s possible the Giants will discipline Nabers for his antics during concussion protocol, and head coach Brian Daboll seemed to confirm this in his press conference Friday morning after videos were released.
While the head coach did not comment explicitly on the situation, he acknowledged it happened and is planning on addressing it “internally” with the rookie.

Malik Nabers concussion protocol timeline
The Giants confirmed Friday morning Nabers would miss his second consecutive game after his Week 4 injury. He did not practice this past week despite doing some light drills on the side, and there is no specific timeline for return.
The concussion happened on a Thursday night, giving the receiver a bit of extra recovery time ahead of this weekend. It was possible he could have returned to play Sunday before being ruled out, but most players suffering serious head injuries miss at least one game, if not more.
