Running back Alvin Kamara has been popping up on the injury report with a hand issue, but he hasn’t missed a game yet this season.
After signing a two-year, $24.5 million extension ahead of Week 8, Kamara revealed just how badly his hand is actually injured.

Is Alvin Kamara injured?
Kamara apparently has a broken hand. The running back said that he has been playing with a broken hand since the team’s Week 5 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Kamara didn’t practice the first game after the Kansas City loss. He was cited to be working through hip and hand injuries. Kamara returned to practice that Thursday and has been limited in each practice since. He has not missed a game due to the injury, and at this point, there’s no indication he’ll miss Week 8’s game vs. the Chargers.

Kamara has played in two games with a broken hand. Clearly, it must be a small break because it isn’t affecting his ability to hold onto the football. He did have his lone fumble of the season with the broken hand, but he’s still heavily involved in the New Orleans gameplan.

The more impressive thing about Kamara playing through an apparent broken hand is that he has played well enough to earn a contract extension. New Orleans signed him to a two-year, $24.5 million extension that now has him under contract through the 2026 season.

Kamara hasn’t been limited by his broken hand. He is still the unquestioned starting running back and continues to be a dual-threat between his work on the ground and the targets he gets through the air.
There was hope that Miller would develop into his backup, but he has struggled to get going in his NFL career. Williams remains the direct backup to Kamara, while Mims gets work on special teams.
